The Park Avenue Bank's MEET A MUSEUM program presents:
A Shower of Jewels: Wealth Gods From the Rubin Museum of Art
May 17 - July 13, 2007
The aspiration for wealth and the wisdom to recognize it figure prominently in Himalayan art. Some of the gods emblematic of wealth are gathered here - the corpulent Lord of Hosts spilling jewels from a vase; Jambhala, whose grimace and long canines guard against the vanities of wealth, and The King of the Northern Direction, who carries gems in a mongoose and dispenses them with a squeeze.
