Select portraits by eight outstanding American artists reveal a sampling of the excellence of the National Academy Museum's permanent collection. Founded in 1825, the Academy's collection includes over 7,000 works of art from the 19th century to the present. Portraits by Thomas Eakins, Emanuel Leutze, George Tooker, Elihu Vedder, and Andrew Wyeth, among others, present the psychological power and intimacy of this genre.
